Artist's Comments

This is my first drawing using charcoal and my first attempt at realistic shading. I learned a lot from drawing this and overall I'm happy with the way it turned out, although there are a few areas that I could improve.

Any advice on how to improve the shading would be greatly appreciated. :)

Only Winners can have this :) Anybody for Tea?

Note: I took a picture of the drawing instead of using my scanner because my scanner is too small, so the actual drawing looks better than this picture.

The hair and proportions are amazing. I would suggest blending for a shading technique. When drawing eyes try to put a catchlight in them.

Hey man i love the way you have done the hair it is very impressive, my only piece of advice would be to try not to use line and outline so bold when doing life drawing haha people don't have lines. I can see you will go far with drawing if you carry on like this. well done!

I find charcoal difficult to work with because it's messy! But so fun :) I really like the style of her hair, it looks great!
